The Eddy Current Separator (ECS) is engineered with a high-speed, belt-driven magnetic rotor composed of rare-earth neodymium magnets, arranged in a specific polarity sequence to maximize the repelling force on conductive particles. The magnetic rotor operates at speeds up to 3000 RPM, creating a rapidly alternating magnetic field essential for efficient eddy current generation. The machine features an adjustable splitter system, allowing precise control over material trajectories and separation purity. A heavy-duty, wear-resistant conveyor belt ensures consistent material feeding, while the drum and belt tensioning mechanisms are designed for continuous, maintenance-friendly operation. The entire structure is reinforced to minimize vibration and maintain alignment under high load conditions.

The separation process in an Eddy Current Separator relies on the differential behavior of conductive and non-conductive materials under a rapidly changing magnetic field. As mixed material passes over the high-speed magnetic rotor, conductive particles such as aluminum and copper experience induced eddy currents that generate their own magnetic fields in opposition to the source. This interaction results in a strong repulsive force, propelling non-ferrous metals away from the primary material flow. Non-conductive materials, such as plastics, black mass, and steel (which is removed upstream with a magnetic separator), follow a normal trajectory and fall closer to the end of the conveyor.

The precise adjustment of rotor speed, belt velocity, splitter position, and feed uniformity are critical to optimizing separation efficiency and minimizing material loss during operation. In the context of lithium-ion battery recycling, where processed materials include aluminum, copper, steel, plastics, and black mass, efficient non-ferrous metal recovery is crucial. The ECS system’s optimized magnetic field geometry and adjustable rotor frequency enable fine-tuning according to particle size distribution and material characteristics.

Integrated dust control features and modular frame designs allow easy integration into existing process lines.
